What is the Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation?
Mission
The mission is to revitalize rural Canada. Strong rural economies across Canada are needed by the rest of Canadians for the 2000s. CRRF achieves its mission through education and research for rural leaders in the community, the private sector and in government.
CRRF seeks to broker mutually beneficial relationships built on improved understanding of common interest at all levels, to advance the fortunes of all partners and reduce rural dependency.
Meeting Needs
Economic and social restructuring, accelerated by globalization, is compressing the time between information, learning and action needed to sustain rural development. This presents extreme challenges to rural populations accustomed to trial and error styles of learning, seasonal timetables, and complex institutional strategies to manage uncertainty.
CRRF assembles creative minds from rural communities, governments, universities and businesses to enable rural populations to succeed with these challenges. Specifically CRRF addresses:
- the need for jobs and wealth generating activities.
- the need for institutional flexibility within the private sector, and within social and governing organizations in rural Canada.
- the need for urban and rural people to help each other find ethical environmental and economic solutions to the problems of sustainability and rural dependence.
- the need for continuing learning to enable rural populations to participate actively in the economic life of their country.
Fulfilling these needs is important to rural people, their firms and farms, and to the Nation.
Not-for-Profit
CRRF is a National nonprofit society #50509014 chartered in the Province of Alberta. It is a federally registered charity #0990655-59. Its aim is to build CRRF's institutional capacity and reputation as a private investor managed Foundation.

- CRRF carries out its Mission without favour or prejudice by political interest.
- CRRF respects and serves inclusively the interests of all segments of rural society, within communities, between metro-adjacent and remote places, and across the forestry, fishing, mining, agriculture, energy, manufacturing and services sectors.
